Bucephalandra is an increasingly popular plant in the aquarium hobby due to their wide variety, unique coloration, overall hardiness and ease of maintenance. All of the many species of this plant are found in Borneo, one of the largest islands in the world and part of Malaysia and Indonesia.
Bucephalandra are rheophytic (lives in fast flowing waters with changing water levels), making them suitable for both emersed and immersed environments. They propagate through rhizomes and thus do best with hardscapes to attach to. They are slow growing and come in many leaf structure varieties and colors.
Brownie Red is a popular Bucephalandra that is exceptionally notable for displaying a wide range of light to dark green leaves with bright red stems and grows as dense clumps.
